The Zenit 3M was made between 1962 and 1970. This one is fitted with its cheap and cheerful standard 50mm F3.5 Industar-50 lens. In 1963/64 this camera and lens would have cost (pounds, shillings and pence) £30 19s 6d. With the more impressive 58mm F2 Helios-44 lens, the price shot up to a whopping £46 12s 6d! Both configurations are now worth much the same and can be had for around £25.
The lens fitting is the odd M39 screw fit instead of the very common M42 fit. Its also worth noting that the camera doesn't have an instant return mirror, so the viewfinder is blocked until the shutter is wound on.
This SLR is virtually identically to another camera we have marked Zenit - but in reality just a Zenit 3M with a slightly different engraving. Click HERE for more details on that camera.
This picture was taken with a Minolta 7000i camera.
